Mercedes Benz has announced that it will take legal responsibility for the operation of cars equipped with L3's autonomous Drive Pilot when the vehicle's advanced driver assistance system is switched on. It means Mercedes has become the first carmaker in the world to accept legal responsibility for an L3 self-driving accident. At the end of 2021, Mercedes announced that it had received approval from the German government to legally drive L3 autonomous cars on German roads.
